Semester Review

When you look at everything we have done this semester, what stands out to you as meaningful? Pick 3 things that you think will stick with you (article, quote, video, podcast, activity, etc) and write 2-3 sentences about each of those three things on your blog.

This class has been extremely eye opening and above all else I really truly appreciate each and every one of you in this class. Not only have I learned from you and got to hear from and look through different lenses and apply different perspectives, I was able to make some great friends because of it.

Dr.Bogad- You deserve all the praise in the world. Your outlook on teaching and your energy for learning is refreshing. I truly believe I will be a better teacher because I got to take this course with you. What a great experience and thank you for being the hopeful and helpful person we all need.

The first thing I want to pick that will stick with me is the card game. It was a way to connect with my peers and have fun but offered a deeper meaning and learning experience. It was extremely impactful and a great introduction to the author I learned from the most this semester, Lisa Delpit.

The second thing that will stick with me is honestly our in-class discussions. Creating a space where people feel comfortable and a space to be vulnerable is so important for learning. The ideas and perspectives of others, what they are feeling, or how they interpreted a certain aspect or activity has opened my mind and a better learner. It has showed me an environment that I want my future students to be able to experience. It is one that I will look for and try to push for wherever I go.

The last thing that will stick with me is my Service Learning. I learned so much from my placement teacher and how to be a successful educator. Above all else, I had such a fun time every week learning with the kids and getting to know them and how they approach learning. I also got to experience 3rd grade again, but this time through a different lens. I got to see what being a teacher is all about and it has made me really happy.
